In 1942, the first African American recruits arrived at Montford Point, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to begin Marine Corps training for overseas duty. This proved to be a time of change and growth for the United States Marine Corps.

Delivering Practical Support to Veterans and Communities
NMPMA Chapter 38 is a 501(c)3 veteran-led service organization committed to honoring the legacy of the Montford Point Marines through programs that promote veteran health, stability, dignity, education, and community connection. Our work includes Operation Cancer Care, veteran advocacy and outreach, family-support initiatives, youth and scholarship activities, community partnerships, and programs that preserve the history and contributions of the first African Americans to serve in the United States Marine Corps.
