A legacy worth carrying forward

From 1942 to 1949, the Montford Point Marines made history as the first African Americans to earn the title of United States Marine — training at a segregated camp in New River, North Carolina, and helping open the door to a fully integrated military.

We are proud to carry that legacy forward. As one of five North Carolina chapters of the National Montford Point Marine Association, Chapter 38 serves veterans, active-duty service members, and communities across the following counties:

Alamance Caswell Chatham Cumberland

Davidson Durham Forsyth Franklin

Granville Guilford Johnston Nash

Orange Person Randolph Rockingham

Surry Wake

These Marines fought for the right to fight. Today, we continue that fight — working to find and honor every one of the more than 20,000 men who trained at Montford Point Camp, so that none of them is forgotten.

There's a place for you in this mission. Whether you want to support our veterans, give back to your community, or help preserve an important chapter of American history, we'd love to have you. Our programs are powered by volunteers and donations, and your time, talent, or generosity can make a real difference in someone's life.

Membership is open to all veterans and active-duty personnel with honorable service.
